Old Town San Diego has a quaint atmosphere, streets filled with the historic culture of the many traditions left behind. This historic area includes three major parks and sits next to the State Park with 32 historic sites, shops and the Presidio, the site of the first mission.

Casa Guadalajara
Casa Guadalajara, the popular Old Town restaurant owned and operated by Diane Powers. Food: Casa Guadalajara provided a disappointing experience as my friend’s sister, who has a celery allergy, was assured by the server, Vanessa, 3 times that the poblano rice contained only spinach. However, after taking a few bites, she discovered celery pieces, resulting in a severe allergic reaction.
Casa de Reyes
Great location in the middle of the marketplace with outdoor seating. Besides the great ambiance the service was excellent – I ordered the chicken mole enchiladas from the specials section and the chicken tortilla soup to warm me up on a chilly night. The soup really hit the spot and was nice and hardy with a lot of crispy tortilla strips on top. The dish also included rice and corn which was a full meal.

Old Town Cinco de Mayo
The Fiesta Old Town Cinco de Mayo is gearing up for their very exciting, annual Festival in the streets.This year The fifth is on Friday so you can expect a 3-day long event celebration Join us May 5th, 6th and 7th from 10am-7pm each day at your favorite Old Town location.
Day of the Dead
The calavera ( “skull” in Spanish) has become one of the most recognizable cultural and artistic elements of the Day of the Dead festivities. The colorful calavera are celebratory figures as is Catrina who replaced the Woman of the dead as a more joyful face of this celebration. MORE

After our summer has warmed and charmed the hearts of many, Old Town San Diego will have the Taste of Old Town. It is in the planning stage but September is when it cools down and allows our restaurants to show what food is all about. Watch for ticket sales in late summer.
