Full Trailer for Distant Future A.I. Sci-Fi 'Atlas' Starring Jennifer Lopez

Atlas Sci-Fi Movie Trailer

"My primary protocol is to keep you alive." Netflix has launched an official trailer for a sci-fi action movie called Atlas, starring Jennifer Lopez. Arriving to watch this May – it's yet another star-driven expensive spectacle that will be streaming this summer. Also another artificial intelligence-related sci-fi movie, since it's the big tech trend of the moment, there have to be movies about it. Atlas is set in a bleak future, where an A.I. soldier has determined that the only way to end war is to end humanity. Lopez plays a data analyst with a deep distrust of A.I., who joins a mission to capture a renegade robot. When plans go awry, her only hope of saving the future of humanity from AI is to trust it. Co-starring Simu Liu, Sterling K. Brown, Gregory James Cohan, Abraham Popoola, Lana Parrilla, & Mark Strong. From the looks of it, this seems like pro-A.I. propaganda disguised as a sci-fi movie. The Creator isn't the same, this seems rather blatant in its message that she must "trust" the A.I. Unfortunately this looks way too cheesy to be any good, especially with JLo's performance in this mech suit, but I'm sure it'll be a streaming hit anyway. Take a look.

Daniel Brühl is Karl in the 'Becoming Karl Lagerfeld' Series Full Trailer

Becoming Karl Lagerfeld Trailer

"I'm sick of not being taken seriously." Hulu / Disney+ have revealed the main official trailer for the seris Becoming Karl Lagerfeld, launching for streaming in June this summer. This French series about haute couture & the fashion industry was developed under the original title Kaiser Karl, produced by Gaumont and Jour Premier, with six episodes at launch. The infamous German fashion designer Karl Otto Lagerfeld passed away in 2019 after an illustrious & elaborate career. D+'s Becoming Karl Lagerfeld plunges viewers into the heart of the 70s, in Paris, Monaco, and Rome, to follow the formidable blossoming of this complex & iconic personality of Parisian couture, already driven by the ambition to become the Emperor of fashion. Between glamour and clashes of egos, grandiose parties and destructive passions, discover the story of Karl before Lagerfeld. Daniel Brühl stars as Karl Lagerfeld, with Théodore Pellerin as Jacques de Bascher, Arnaud Valois as Yves Saint Laurent, Alex Lutz as Pierre Bergé, and Agnès Jaoui. This looks more like a story about how wild & debaucherous it was in the 70s, with just a touch of the glamour of French fashion.

"Fear is the path to the dark side…" Time to return to that galaxy far, far away. 20th Century has revealed a brand new trailer for the 25th anniversary re-release of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace in theaters this May. This highly anticipated prequel in the Star Wars series opened in the summer of 1999, some 25 years ago, and the hype was through the roof. In The Phantom Menace, two Jedi escape a hostile blockade and come across a young boy who may bring balance to the Force, but the long dormant Sith resurface to claim their original glory. Watch: Alex Goddard's Amusing 'Learning to Skateboard at 40' Short

Learning to Skateboard at 40 Short Film

"It's completely secluded. You can skate with no shame here." How many people tried skateboarding when they were a kid? And how many gave up quickly after trying? Has this kind of "giving up" mentality come to haunt you the rest of your life? What is worth giving up and what isn't? How to decide? So many existential questions come to mind while watching this fun short film. Learning to Skateboard at 40 is a new short (under 8 minutes!!) made by filmmaker Alex Goddard from Brighton. It's not really a documentary, per se, it's more of an amusing narrative film reflecting on life and getting older and not giving up. Starring Alex Goddard, Chris Sav, Barney Taylor, Lucy Jordan. This is one of those shorts you have to click [play] on and trust you'll be off on an unforgettable adventure. This adventure is, uh, well - trying to skate at 40 years old.

Final US Trailer for Animation Sensation 'Robot Dreams' Set in NYC

Robot Dreams Trailer

"It will double the size of your heart." Oh yes it will! Neon has finally unveiled the official US trailer for the beloved animated film Robot Dreams, made by director Pablo Berger, which first premiered at the 2023 Cannes and Annecy Film Festivals. The film snuck in and ended up getting nominated for Best Animated Film at the 2024 Academy Awards (after a small qualifying theatrical release in the US last fall). Neon has finally scheduled Robot Dreams to open in US theaters on May 31st - so if you've been waiting to watch it, not too much longer now. A story about friendship, its importance, and its fragility. The wonderful dialogue-free film is based on the popular graphic novel by Sara Varon, about the adventures and misfortunes of Dog and Robot in New York City during the '80s. Dog is lonely so he orders a Robot companion, but then Robot gets stuck in the sand at the beach one day. I wrote a glowing review of this out of Cannes and I'm happy to keep mentioning it so more and more people will watch it. An unforgettably fun film about two companions.

Naomi Ackie & Channing Tatum in Mystery Thriller 'Blink Twice' Trailer

Blink Twice Trailer

"Are you having a good time?" Amazon MGM Studios has revealed the first official trailer for Blink Twice, a mystery thriller marking the feature directorial debut of actress Zoë Kravitz. She's co-writing & directing in collaboration with another writer from the "High Fidelity" series she starred on recently. It's opening in theaters in August. "This summer, make some memories." Naomi Ackie stars as Frida is a young waitress in Los Angeles who has her eye on tech entrepreneur Slater King. On a dream vacation to his private island, strange things start to happen. Frida will have to uncover the truth if she wants to make it out alive. Uh oh… Co-starring Channing Tatum as Slater, along with Christian Slater, Simon Rex, Adria Arjona, Kyle MacLachlan, Haley Joel Osment, Geena Davis, and Alia Shawkat. At first glance, this reminds me of Don't Worry Darling with many similarities, but it also seems like it has some nefarious twists in the vein of Spiderhead, which is also set on an island. It definitely seems like a creepy place to be! What do you think..?

Netflix has revealed a teaser trailer for a new game show dark comedy series called The 8 Show, from filmmaker Korean filmmaker Han Jae-rim (known for his films Rules of Dating, The Show Must Go On, Emergency Declaration). It's yet another game show for Netflix, but this is a fictional series based on web comics. "An irresistible but brutal show's curtain will be rising." Eight contestants in financial hardship take part in Money Game, a reality competition with 44.8 billion Korean won up for grabs. Hazard Trailer

"No parking in the red zone!" Ha ha. Samuel Goldwyn Films has revealed an official US trailer for an action movie from Belgium (in the Dutch language) titled Hazard, also stylized as H4Z4RD during its original premiere. This first opened in 2022 in Belgium, and hit the genre festivals in late 2023 playing at Fantastic Fest, FrightFest, and Sitges last year. It's hard to describe: Noah really loves his girlfriend, his daughter, and his car, but he gets involved in a deadly driving job that will result in either losing his life, his family or his beloved car. It's a car movie, and an action movie, rolled into one - and the title comes from the guy's name, Noah Hazard - starring superstar DJ Dimitri 'Vegas' Thivaios. The cast also includes Jeroen Perceval, Jennifer Heylen, Mila Rooms, Frank Lammers, Monic Hendrickx, Tom Vermeir, Emilie De Roo, and Gene Bervoets. Looks like it should be some wild & crazy fun with these two bozos and their car.

A Family Affair Trailer

"Today better go off without a hitch." Strike Media has revealed an official trailer for a British indie comedy titled A Family Affair, made by filmmaker Warren Fischer who coms from South Africa. This is set to debut in the UK first on VOD this May, after originally opening on VOD in South Africa back in February this year. It's only 72 minutes! A financially distressed guest house manager is forced to stave off interest from wealthy buyers at a public auction while hosting his in-laws for their wedding anniversary and his own difficult father on the same weekend. Starring Joe Wilkinson, Laura Aikman, and Jane Asher. "On a superficial level, the film is a farcical romp but at its core, this is a story about love, loss, reconciliation and the complexities of family." There's still no US release set yet, though it'll probably end up on VOD at some point this year. This does look like everything you'd want in a fun British comedy about a family & a house.

New World Building Featurette for 'Kingdom of the Plane of the Apes'

Kingdom of the Plane of the Apes Featurette

"Long before your elders, there was a time when humans and apes lived side-by-side. Impossible as that may seem…" 20th Century Studios has unveiled a making of featurette for the Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes movie directed by Wes Ball. In the video, Ball and his stars Kevin Durand & Freya Allan talk about world building and setting this in a distant future where our planet has become a full jungle. It takes place years after the events of War for the Planet of the Apes (2017). Many ape clans have emerged in the oasis to which Caesar led his fellow apes, while humans have regressed. One new ape leader prevents the teachings of Caesar in order to enslave other clans while in search of the last traces of a secret technology. Starring Owen Teague as Cornelius, the son of Caesar, with Freya Allan, Peter Macon, Eka Darville, Kevin Durand, Travis Jeffery, Neil Sandilands, Sara Wiseman, William H. Macy, and Dichen Lachman. This is looking better and better the more they show. Absolutely stunning footage, and I really enjoy hearing from Wes Ball talking about what he wanted to do in this new Apes movie. Take a look below.
