Chicago Beer Pass: Leprechaun Trap

On this episode of Chicago Beer Pass, Brad Chmielewski and Nik White are full on St. Patrick’s Day on this episode. To get these green festivities going they have a Clurichaun Trap, an Irish Stout from Illuminated Brew Works. First this beer was great and second the guys learned what a Clurichaun is… who says you can’t learn anything from drinking? As the guys knock back a can or two, they talk about Horse Thief Hollow, Midwest Coast Brewing, and how Short Fuse Brewing were the ones that picked up the IP from Metropolitan Brewing.

It’s been a while since the two of them opened up anything from Lake Effect Brewing Company so it’s really nice to see what they have been up to.

As winter disappears it’s always an interesting time for beer in the city. Festival season is starting to kick off and we’ll get the bikes out soon and hit up a few breweries.

On this episode of Chicago Beer Pass, Brad Chmielewski and Nik White have themselves a hazy double IPA from the Sauganash brewery, Alarmist. Bone Bone Bone… is the first time in a while that the guys have reached for this style, and it didn’t disappoint. It was just a few episodes ago that the guys tried the Alarmist and Solemn Oath collaboration. Bone Bone Bone is another collaboration, this time with Hidden Hand. As Brad and Nik crush a few cans, they get excited for St. Patrick’s Day coming up, but they also dive into the trend of THC waters that seem to be hitting the market and who might be the audience for this beverage.

Brad picked up these cans of Raptor Snacks from District Brew Yards and felt like it was just what they needed: a classic IPA. This beer doesn’t disappoint and is a good reminder of the tasty beer coming out of District Brew Yards all the time. As the guys crush a few cans, Nik shares a little about his recent trip to Cider Summit.

Nik also shares a bit about his trip out west where he got to enjoy some Russian River. Be sure to keep an eye out for the next episode where Nik lets everyone know about how he liked Cider Summit. With the weather changing and events picking up it feels like summer is coming fast!

On this final episode of 2023, Brad Chmielewski and Nik White kick off the new year with a collaboration between Alarmist Brewing & Solemn Oath Brewing called Snaggle Jus. This beer is everything you want from both breweries: a big, juicy hop punch in the face. If this is a sign of what we could see more of going into 2024, then the guys are all for it. Brad and Nik also talk about trips to Phase Three and the newest opening of Other Half Brewing in Bridgeport’s Renovated Ramova Theatre. Last year, the guys ended the year with Fistmas as well, and it’s only fitting because Revolution Brewing might be one of those breweries the guys drink and talk about the most. As they crush a few cans, they talk about a few favorite memories of the year and share their experience at the final days of Metropolitan Brewing.
