AAIT Cancer Treatment

Our Autologous Adoptive Immunotherapy (AAIT) is a type of therapy that is only available in our Mexico center that hasn't been approved by the FDA for the treatment of cancer within the United States. AAIT utilizes a targeted natural killer cell treatment using the patient's own immune system aimed towards fighting cancer.

With nearly a decade of experience in treating the most difficult cancers, we have developed one of the most innovative immune-based cancer treatment therapies. AAIT is our proprietary method of helping cancer patients achieve stronger immune systems by supplementing their bodies with healthy immune cells that have the ability to fight cancer. In essence, AAIT is akin to an immune system transplant. Unlike organ transplants, in which organs are obtained from one person and given to another, the cells that are transplanted in the AAIT process are autologous, which means they are the patient's own cells.

Why AAIT may be Important for Cancer Patients

Cancer patients typically have a very low number of Natural Killer cells in the body. NK cells are a very important type of white blood cell that mainly functions to control viral infections and recognizes developing tumor cells in the early stages of cancer. In addition to having low numbers, the NK cells present in a cancer patients body are usually disabled from functioning optimally. This of course, further aggravates the course of disease and allows for increased spreading of the cancer.

How Does Our Natural Killer Cell Treatment Work?

Once our physician identifies a patient as being a candidate for AAIT treatment, we'll use a machine called an Apheresis unit to obtain billions of white blood cells from the patient. In healthy adults, less than 8% of white blood cells are NK cells. This number, of course, is even lower in patients with late-stage, metastatic cancer. About 20% of the cells we obtain from the Apheresis procedure cannot be expanded or re-infused back into the body because they're not the correct type of cell capable of fighting cancer. However, these cells do aid in the growth of the correct cells so they are not disposed of during the process.

Once the white blood cells are obtained, we "cleanse" the cells in saline for sterilization, then we "nurture" them to keep them alive. However, the goal isn't just to keep the cells alive, the goal is to condition the cells to fight cancerous cells. After we complete the task of properly conditioning the cells, the next step is to grow the cells into an army of competent and motivated cells. To accomplish this goal, we use agents called Cytokines. Cytokines are proteins that occur naturally within the body and they are used by the immune system cells for communication with one another. Each Cytokine sends its own special signal to a particular type of cell. The Cytokines we use send signals to three major types of cells: Natural Killer cells, Natural Killer T cells, and Cytotoxic T lymphocytes. Once Cytokines are implemented, the 20% of cells that are cannot be reconditioned to fight will then produce more Cytokines, which aid in process of expansion in the healthy cells. This process is conducted over a span of three to four weeks.

The goal is to finish the process with billions of properly trained Natural cells. Healthy active Natural Killer Cells are both capable of recognizing and killing tumor cells. We rigorously test the aptitude of the cells before we reintroduce them to the patient's body.

  • Quantity: The number of cells makes all the difference when it comes to fighting cancer. Whereas other natural killer cell vaccines exist in low numbers, our AAIT treatment multiplies natural killer cells into the multi-billions.
  • Quality: We perform Cytotoxicity essays to ensure that the natural killer cells are activated to kill tumors. We test the NK cells against tumor cell lines in order to establish their killing ability.
  • Sterility: We make sure our natural killer cell vaccine is clean and has zero contaminants.

Get in contact with us!

Welcome to Envita's Biologics Division! Our AAIT method is the latest in our line of cancer and immunotherapy treatments and in comparison to immunotherapy options that are currently available in United States as well as abroad, it boasts a significant level of tumor kill without having to resort to biopsy. AAIT can be used in addition to chemotherapy, radiotherapy and/or delivered intra-operatively. It's very important to note that AAIT can also be utilized completely independent of chemotherapy and radiation because it leverages a completely different mechanism of tumor kill.
