Arizona Fall League rosters were announced this afternoon. Detroit Tigers prospect Nick Castellanos, as you might expect, is among the players being sent to the league. He is listed as an infielder with the Mesa Solar Sox's roster.

Other Tigers who've been assigned to Mesa include first baseman Aaron Westlake, catcher James McCann, and pitchers Luke Putkonen, Matt Hoffman, Tyler Clark and Michael Morrison.

The Orioles, Clubs, Astros and Dodgers also have players on the roster.

You undoubtedly know Castellanos, the Tigers' top prospect. Westlake and McCann are names that you've probably heard of as well, as they were drafted in the earlier rounds of the 2011 first-year player draft. Putkonen has spent some time with the Tigers.

The two you might not know: Morrison is a 24-year-old reliever with Erie who has a 3.25 ERA. He has 71 strikeouts and 40 walks in 61 innings.

Clark began the year with High-A Lakeland and is now with Erie. The 23-year-old reliever has a 1.13 ERA in 48 innings between the two levels. He has 63 strikeouts and 22 walks.

The AFL is a prospect-laden league, kind of a polishing school that begins a few weeks after the traditional minor league season.

Mesa's regular season opens Oct. 4 and runs through Nov. 17.
