Tracy Butler brings the Prohibition era to sepia-toned life in all its triumph and tragedy in Lackadaisy. 1927 St. Louis is a city rife with opulence and illicit spirits, and Mitzi May intends to capitalize on this combination. The comic's art is no less than magnificent, but what stands out most of all is the vivid cast of characters, each a world in themselves, each a piece of the mosaic that forms the Roaring Twenties. The story builds around the interplay between the many individuals, some loyal to the legacy of Atlas May, others seeking to wrest it for themselves. The result is a thoroughly enticing historical drama. Well-researched, well-drawn and well-acted, Lackadaisy is well worth the read.

everything CPAM says is correct. The art is stunning, partly due the insane attention to detail. The artists references many actual building and objects to make them accurate, and the language includes very specific references that must have been hard to learn. It all fits together very nicely, and the loose panel structure allows for wonderful language and plot twists. Highly recommended. note to author: UPDATE MORE OFTEN!
This strip blows me away. Tracy Butler breaks the 'traditional' furry mold by picking an unlikely milieu, the Roaring Twenties, the era of Al 'Scarface' Capone and Prohibition bootlegging, and beautifully depicts a madcap world of feline flappers and tommygun-totin' tomcats, that is hilarious and breathtaking all at the same time. It doesn't update often enough, but it's pure gold when it does. And all in glorious sepia, too!
