About BlackBerry Desktop Manager

The BlackBerry ® Desktop Manager is designed to link the content and applications on a BlackBerry device with your computer.

Use the BlackBerry Desktop Manager to do the following tasks:

The home screen of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager provides information about the connected device, such as the model information and the last dates that data was backed up and synchronized. The home screen can also provide quick access to common tasks, such as backing up data, opening device options, checking for BlackBerry® Device Software updates, and synchronizing organizer data and media files.

If you have used the BlackBerry Desktop Manager with other BlackBerry devices, you can connect these devices and switch between them using the Device menu.

Download BlackBerry Desktop Manager

To download the most recent version of BlackBerry Desktop Manager, visit http://www.blackberry.com. Double-click the downloaded file, and then follow the instructions in the installation wizard.

Check for BlackBerry Desktop Manager updates

  1. In the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, click Help > Check for updates.
  2. If an update is available, review the information on the screen and if you want to install it, click Get update.
  3. After the update is downloaded, close the BlackBerry Desktop Software when you are prompted to.
  4. Open the BlackBerry Desktop Software again to complete the installation.
  5. Click Close when the update is complete.
You might need to restart your computer after the update is installed.
