Buffalo Bills biggest draft bust: Aaron Maybin or Mike Williams?

On Monday, two Buffalo Bills were named to the list of biggest draft busts of the 2000s. Which one of them was worse?

Last Monday, Chase Goodbread published an article over at NFL.com listing the best and worst draft picks from each class beginning in 2000 and ending in 2009. Naturally, two Buffalo Bills made appearances on the list, as Mike Williams (No. 4 overall in 2002) and Aaron Maybin (No. 11 overall in 2009) both were bad enough to be in the bottom two for their respective drafts classes.

But which one was worse?

Williams was out of football after just four seasons starting at right tackle and eventually getting shoved inside to guard, where highly drafted offensive tackles go to save their careers. He was never great, but he started 47 games for the Bills, then made a brief comeback in 2009 with Washington.

Maybin's career didn't even make it to three seasons in a Bills uniform. He managed zero sacks, one forced fumble (on special teams), and 14 tackles in just 27 games before being released. Maybin then landed with the New York Jets, enjoying a six-sack campaign in 2011 before being released in 2012. He also spent time with Cincinnati and in the CFL before retiring from football in May of 2014.
